Special: MouseHunt 3.0 ("Longtail") Notes
- This chapter is a summary of the update and how it may affect current strategy.
- The official release notes can be found here and here.
- Note that travel costs have been updated, and better reflect the distances between locations. You can still travel back to the Town of Gnawnia for free; just use the "Larry's Travel" tab.
- The crafting interface now does not have a red slot. There is now no chance of ingredient loss. Which means you no longer have to agonize over such decisions like whether to craft the Ambush as a Grandmaster! Yay!
- The Tattered Mousoleum Map is now found in the Town of Digby, and not the Laboratory.
- The Lagoon General Store has been moved to the Great Gnarled Tree.
- There is now a new base available in the Training Grounds: the Bamboozler Base. It costs 90,000 gold, and has the following stats:
- Power: 200
- Power Bonus: 10%
- Attraction Bonus: 5%
- Luck: 0
- Cheese Effect: Very Fresh
- The high power bonus means that it is useful as an intermediate between the Explosive Base and the Monolith Base.
- On 2 July 2010, the developers hinted on the existence of a new crafted base, the Molten Shrapnel Base, but did not reveal the recipe. The recipe is finally discovered on 12 July 2010.
- The recipe is: 1 Dragon Ember + 12 Tiny Platinum Bars + 200 Scrap Metal = 1 Molten Shrapnel Base
- The Dragon Ember may be collected from the mice in Dracano. A Draconic trap is recommended.
- The Tiny Platinum Bars may be bought from the Training Grounds for 60,000 gold each (total 720,000 gold)
- Scrap Metal may be found in various locations, but is best collected from the Catacombs.
- The Molten Shrapnel Base has the following stats:
- Power: 300
- Power Bonus: 12%
- Attraction Bonus: 5%
- Luck: 8
- Cheese Effect: Extremely Stale
- The Molten Shrapnel Base is a high-power, high-luck base, similar in stats to the limited-edition Magma Base, and very useful when cheese freshness is not important (or needs to be as stale as possible).
