Appendix S5: King's Giveaway
- On November 11, 2010, the King's Giveaway event was announced.
- During the event, Mobster and Leprechaun mice are released. The Mobster gives a good bunch of Super Brie, and the Leprechaun gives out real cash prizes! However, you have about as much chance of catching one as winning the lottery, so, good luck! :p
- However, to give hunters more attainable goals to reach during the event, new prize mice are released. They are the Treasurer, the Snooty, and the High-Roller mice, from easiest to hardest. These drop King's Credits that can be redeemed for in-game items at the Prize Shoppe, available under the Shops menu.
- Note that prize mice can be attracted and caught in any location except the Meadow.
- To attract these mice requires Prize Power. Prize Power can be acquired through several methods:
- During the event most mice around Gnawnia may drop Lucky Coins. These can be rubbed in your inventory to produce 1 Prize Power, but this isn't recommended, as you can instead throw these into Wishing Wells which appear on your friend's profiles instead. Doing these gives both that friend and you 3 Prize Power, unless your friend has less than 5 Prize Power, in which case both them and you receive 5 Prize Power! Note however that you can only toss up to 10 coins per day, and not more than one in the same friend's wishing well per day (resets at midnight GMT).
- Throughout the event free gifts of Lucky Underwear or Lucky Horseshoes can be sent from the "Send Free Gifts" page under the Friends menu. Lucky Underwear provides 5 Prize Power, while Lucky Horseshoes provide 3 when used in your inventory (they appear in the Special section).
- If a Facebook friend starts playing MouseHunt and sounds their horn for the first time, you will receive the Beginner's Luck item, which provides 8 Prize Power when used!
- If you attract, but fail to catch, a prize mouse you receive 1 Prize Power as a consolation.
- Note that if you catch a prize mouse your Prize Power is reset to 0. Thus it is your decision whether to use the "lucky" items immediately to catch a low-reward mouse, or to stockpile them so that you can use them all at once.
- The following numbers are acquired through data-collection and thus should be taken as tentative, but are useful as a guideline. Mice have also been reported to have been attracted with less Prize Power sometimes:
- Treasurer mice require approximately 10 Prize Power to attract.
- Snooty mice require approximately 50 Prize Power to attract.
- High-Roller mice require approximately 100 Prize Power to attract.
- If you catch one of these mice, you will not attract that kind of mouse for 24 hours. This can be useful, as it gives you a better chance of catching a different mouse.
- If you are lucky enough to catch a Mobster or Leprechaun you will not encounter that kind of mouse for a full 90 days.
- Note that certain types of cheese, considered rare and/or hard to acquire, cannot attract prize mice:
- Gilded
- Gauntlet Cheese Tier 4 and above
- Wicked Gnarly Cheese
- Susheese
- Glutter Cheese
- Combat Cheese
- Rumble Cheese
- Onyx Gorgonzola
- Shell Cheese
- Gumbo Cheese
- Crunchy Cheese
- ALL types of Havarti Cheese
- Vengeful Vanilla Stilton
- Checkmate Cheese
- If you happen to have a bunch of these types of cheese, you can use them if you wish to conserve your Prize Power. When you're ready to catch a prize mouse, avoid these cheese.
- Once again, good luck! Note that if you don't have enough King's Credits to acquire the item you want, you can save them up for the next Giveaway.
- Even though the event is over, prize mice may still be occasionally encountered. Any remaining Prize Power is saved for future giveaways, and the Prize Shoppe will remain open.
