Sidequest: Toxic Spill

  • Note: This is a rather new location, and as such the information here may be subject to change.
  • The Toxic Spill is an area that will open every now and then, in unpredictable intervals.
  • The initial contamination level of the spill will also vary, and will reduce as mice are hunted in the area. The highest possible contamination level is eight, where only Archdukes/Archduchesses and up are allowed entry. The lowest is level one, where Heroes and up are allowed entry.
  • If there is a Toxic Spill you can enter right now, you will be notified with a special banner above your journal.
  • The higher the contamination level, the more powerful the mice that you may encounter, with a corresponding increase in gold and point rewards. As the contamination level goes down, the more powerful mice will disappear, leaving the weaker mice behind.
  • Arm your best Hydro weapon. As for cheese, you need to obtain Rancid Radioactive Blue:
    • You may buy them from the Toxic Spill cheese shoppe for 2 Radioactive Blue Cheese + 1 Radioactive Sludge + 450 gold.
    • You may craft it with: 2 Radioactive Curds + 1 Radioactive Sludge + 1 Ionized Salt. Radioactive Curds are obtained by smashing Radioactive Blue Cheese with your Hunter's Hammer.
  • The two methods are essentially equal in cost. Buying from the cheese shoppe would probably be more convenient for most, unless you're using the Pollution Control Supply Kit
  • The Pollution Control Supply Kit is available from the King's Arms general store for 25 King's Credits. It contains 200 Radioactive Curds and 100 Radioactive Sludge.
  • Do not buy or craft too much Rancid Radioactive Blue however, as you may collect Rancid Radioactive Potions. These can convert Radioactive Blue directly into Rancid Radioactive Blue for only a cost of 450 gold each, saving you 1 cheese and 1 sludge.
  • If you need (regular) Radioactive Blue cheese but only have the curds, you may reconstitute them with 1 Radioactive Curd + 1 Salt.
  • It is also recommended that you arm Rotten Charms and Super Rotten Charms, so that you can catch mice that drop Soapy Suds. The recipes are:
    • 1 Rotten Charm = 1 Flawed Orb + 1 Stale Cheese + 12 Charmbits
    • 1 Super Rotten Charm = 1 Flawed Orb + 1 Stale SUPER|brie+ + 12 Charmbits
  • Flawed Orbs can drop from mice in the Toxic Spill. You can also go to the Windmill to collect them. Arming White Cheddar (1 Curds and Whey + 1 Salt) and a high attraction bonus may help avoid the common white, brown, and grey mice in the Windmill.
  • If you're short on Stale Cheese or Stale SUPER|brie+, the mice in the Toxic Spill may also drop them. Charmbits can be bought from the Mountain charm shoppe.
  • You can also collect Crude Pollutinum from the mice during the spill. You can only store a limited amount though (starts at 200, can be increased through purchasing Barrel upgrades from the general store), and can only refine it to Pollutinum when the spill is no longer active.
  • You can also collect the three pieces of the Polluted Journal Theme as drops from mice. If you have all three, craft them together to unlock a new profile theme!
  • There are a bunch of new items; some of the information is still incomplete.
    • Scum Scrubber Trap = 1 Scum Scrubber Blueprints + 400 Pollutinum + 40 Scrap Metal + 50 Soapy Suds + 4 Canister Ring
      • Power: 3000 (Hydro); Power Bonus: 15%; Attraction Bonus: None; Luck: 13; Cheese Effect: Stale.
      • Hydro weapon. Better than Harpoon Gun/Net Cannon, but worse than Ancient Spear Gun.
    • Polluted Base = 1 Polluted Base Blueprints + 800 Pollutinum + 78 Scrap Metal + 1195 Living Shards + 615 Radioactive Sludge
      • Estimated cost: 1,434,000 gold.
      • Power: 500; Power Bonus: 10%; Attraction Bonus: 0%; Luck: 5; Cheese Effect: Stale. May grant Radioactive Curds upon catching mice in the Toxic Spill. Gets luck bonuses with the Polluted Charm family (see below)
    • Washboard Base = 1 Washboard Base Blueprints + 100 Splintered Wood + 400 Soapy Suds
      • Power: 250; Power Bonus: 10%; Attraction Bonus: 8%; Luck: 8; Cheese Effect: Extremely Stale. Receives +5 Luck and +5% Power Bonus when hunting in the Toxic Spill.
      • This is a pretty useful base, having the same luck as the Aqua Base while providing more power. In the Toxic Spill, it rivals even the Rift Base.
    • Incinerated Garbage Bath Skin (skin for Heat Bath) = 1 Incinerated Garbage Bath Skin Pattern + 40 Coal + 200 Pollutinum
    • Soapy Oasis Skin (skin for Oasis Water Node Trap) = 1 Soapy Oasis Skin Pattern + 400 Pollutinum + 225 Soapy Suds
    • Soapy Phantasmic Oasis Skin (skin for Phantasmic Oasis Trap) = 1 Soapy Phantasmic Oasis Skin Pattern + 400 Pollutinum + 300 Soapy Suds
    • Soap Charm = 1 Flawed Orb + 2 Soapy Suds + 10 Charmbits
      • Normally gives +10 power and +10% power bonus. Gives an additional +5000 power (further amplified by power bonus) and +10 luck in the Toxic Spill.
    • Polluted Charm (+4 luck with Polluted Base) = 1 Flawed Orb + 1 Pollutinum + 8 Charmbits
    • Super Polluted Charm (+6 luck with Polluted Base) = 1 Simple Orb + 2 Pollutinum + 25 Charmbits
    • Extreme Polluted Charm (+10 luck with Polluted Base) = 1 Flawless Orb + 2 Pollutinum + 72 Charmbits + 1 Scrap Metal
    • Ultimate Polluted Charm (+15 luck with Polluted Base) = 1 Divine Orb + 2 Pollutinum + 140 Charmbits + 2 Scrap Metal
